It´s a document that certificate the preferential origin issued by European Union between those countries who has a preferential agreement. he certificate constitutes the supporting document for the application of the preferential duties.
The EUR1 certificate allows importers in certain countries to transport goods at a reduced import duty, a result the preferential agreement between those countries and the European Union.
This certificate is used in trade with Mediterranean countries; the European Free Trade Association (EFTA); the African, Caribbean and Pacific States (ACP); as well as with Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT). The special status enjoyed by ACP countries, in most cases, results from being a former colony of an European Union country. Similarly, OCTs have a mix of autonomy from and reliance with a European Union member state.
The preferences granted to the ACP countries resulted from negotiations that created the Lomé Convention.
The EUR1 certificate will be issued by authories of the exporting country or territory at the time of export.
